A forward from John Clayton of Does God Exist?

The Does God Exist? Program is a nonprofit effort designed to show people that they can logically and intelligently believe in God.  As part of this effort, we have attempted to deal with the challenge from skeptics that pain, tragedy, and disasters in the lives of all humans is incompatible with the concept of a loving, caring, merciful God.  In addition to the challenges posed by skeptics, we have found that many believers have no reasonable answer to this question, and in fact sometimes give destructive answers as to why things like birth defects in babies happen.

This book by Jim and Chet McDoniel is the story of a man born without arms and some deformities in his legs.  Not only is this a wonderful story of a family that worked together to overcome a major challenge to a child, but Jim McDoniel is a full-time preacher and has a done a wonderful job of bringing answers to why a challenge like their family has faced is not inconsistent with Christianity.  Chet’s positive attitude and gutsy determination to not let his physical challenges interfere with his ability to live life to its fullest will inspire you and give you answers to the issues of life.   This is an important book for everyone to read, no matter what you personally bring to this question.  It does not give all the answers, but it brings a lot of answers and a wealth of positive inspiration.
